Here we take a leap into the myths & the facts about STUDY MBBS ABROAD:

  • Students tend to party & revel in festivities abroad instead of studies:

This is exactly what most of the parents/guardians worry about. The students unquestionably get dozens of chances to relax & rejoice. The universities & institutes have mandated tens of stringent rules in terms of compulsory attendance & presence of the students specifically during the practical classes. The students have to carefully follow the decorum/code of conduct mentioned by the university/institute at the time of admittance.

  • MBBS medicine abroad (MBBS) studies are too exorbitant to bear:

The educational expenses apparently tend to differ from country to country. They also tend to differ from institute to institute. But it’s unwise to surmise that the MBBS studies abroad will take a toll on one’s affordability. Many countries all over the world offer scholarships. One can also opt for educational loan. The institutes apparently try to maintain their agendas based on economized rates for the international students. The leniency does remain one of the factors that even the institutes observe as a part of their responsibility towards the international students. Universities/institutes tend to offer scholarships to students based on the merit & financial needs.

MBBS abroad is as creditable by Medical Council of India (MCI) as that of the MBBS course in India. The MCI maintains the list of the international institutes accredited by it. It’s suggestible for the students/parents/guardians/next of kin to read the list of medical institutes accredited by the MCI. The students having pursued MBBS medicine abroad (MBBS) will receive optimum dignity apart from the preferences by the hospitals. The MBBS holders can also opt to establish & maintain their own clinic/dispensary. It depends eventually upon one’s individual efforts & dedication as whether or not he/she clears the MCI exam.

  • It takes a super genius mankind to pursue MBBS abroad:

First of all, the MBBS degree expects one to devout time & energy. One doesn’t need to be intellectually super powerful to become a doctor abroad. One just needs to plan each step perseveringly & complete the task on the right time. The task done on time can save nine when it comes to MBBS. Several institutes abroad furthermore have adapted modern syllabus in an attempt to stay aloft with the current or probable breakthroughs. The existent skills & efforts are more than enough for a practitioner to study each step & implement the same appropriately.

  • Food abroad may emerge as a major hurdle:

Universities/Institutes abroad have various cuisines & food specialties. Indian, Asian, Continental & Western are the specialties always ready to welcome the international students. Most of the institutes/universities have readied their campuses to conveniently accommodate the changeable requirements of the international students. It apparently won’t be a hurdle to get one’s favorite food abroad.

The campuses all over the world take sincere efforts to build up & maintain seamless academic functionality. Nobody hopefully is unaware of the fact anymore that 99% of the institutes all over the world maintain CCTV cameras to dissuade the chances of malfunctions/misdemeanor. The institutes tend to severely deal with the one who threatens the decorum/code of conduct of the university/institute. All the institutes have already consolidated the medical department in their campus/hostel to ensure aesthetic healthcare throughout the tenure of the course.

  • Language is a barrier abroad:

This is the most erroneous belief. It’s logically impossible to run a setup or institute without mandating English as a prevalent language. All the institutes run conveniently on English.

The reputable medical colleges all over the world are highly disciplinary. Many reputable institutes are accredited by UNESCO & WHO too. Most of the employers/hospitals/healthcare firms/pharmaceuticals lay considerable emphasis over the students pursuing course in the recognized colleges. The parents/guardians can take the initiative to properly read the list of recognized institutes across the globe.

The people willing to see their son/daughter being employed in India should give a prime consideration to the institutes accredited by Medical Council of India (MCI). The students willing to work across the western countries can look out for the respective examinations of the country they are willing to relocate to. It’s highly advisable for the students/parents to overlook all the rumors/grapevine about studying MBBS medicine abroad (MBBS).

MBBS is a dream for every students and Parents, also studying MBBS in abroad is very high expectations for everyone. The popular country options for MBBS abroad includes: Russia, China, Georgia, Philippines, British Guyana, Caribbean Islands, different EU countries, UK, Australia, USA (for MD), Canada (for MD), our neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Nepal.

Who can study MBBS abroad:

  • A student who has completed 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum 50%
  • A student whose parents or sponsor can afford the cost of whole programme starting from Rs 12 lacs from their own savings or education loan
  • For studying in English speaking countries, IELTS examination score of 7 bands overall with no band less than 6.5 is generally required
  • For other countries, IELTS is not required.

Whether any entrance examination required separately:

Few countries require the students to take their own entrance examination for MBBS study, but there are many countries where you do not need any entrance examination.

Russia, China, Ukraine, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh – No Direct admission to the MBBS programme. NEET compulsory.

Philippines–Student takes admission to Pre-medical study (BS programme) for 1 year to 1.5 years which also covers preparation for the entrance examination in Philippines, named NMAT. Students can appear for two to three times for NMAT during BS programme. The examination is conducted twice a year in Oct/Nov or Mar/Apr. Once cleared, student joins the MBBS study for 4 years. If the student is unable to clear the examination during pre-med course, then provisional admission to MBBS university is given; but student will have to clear the NMAT with another two chances; so all together students get 5 chances to clear NMAT. IELTS not required.

Nepal – Students need to take admission for the selected university and then need to take the entrance examination. For this year the examination registration will happen till 18th of July 2017; students who have taken the admission to the Nepal medicine schools prior to 18th July will take the examination in Nepal later.

Whether NEET ranking is considered?

MUST.

How much is the study cost in these countries?

Cost varies from country to country. But for total study cost (for full duration) ranges from Rs 12 lacs to 70 lacs maximum (not considering UK, USA, Canada, Australia, NZ). Living cost separate.

According to reports, students after graduating from foreign Medical Colleges can possibly now practice in India without any exams and test. The proposal is expected to be out soon by ministry of Law and Justice. This step has been taken to address the problem of acute shortage of good and qualified doctors in India.

The present law allows Indian students to study MBBS from any recognised foreign medical University, however these students  need to clear a screening test before practising in India.

But now, government is in the favour of giving Medical Council of India a nod of letting Doctors practice in their own country without any test or exam.

Doctors from all over the world can now indulge and practice as they want, this would increase the human resource in medical field.

As of now, Students who got their medical Degrees from USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia can practice medical profession in Indian without giving Medical Test or Exam, but for students with a degree from other countries, would also be able to work in India without giving any test, according to the new rule.

After completing medical studies from foreign country, students have a lot of options to follow. Few of the career choices that one can opt for are listed below:

Clinical Practices with the degree :

One can start their own clinic after studying MBBS from abroad. These clinical practices involves two Sectors, One is government sector and the second is Private sector. In case of government sector, one can be recruited as a regular doctor for full time or on contract basis. Working as a regular doctor in government sector gets you a 50% quota in postgraduate admissions in the state of Andhra Pradesh.  While in Private sector, one can join a corporate hospital or can run their own clinic.

Going for speciality after MBBS:

After completing MBBS, this is the most common option that every student wants to opt for, but unfortunately there are very few seats in postgraduate course, this makes it hard for students to keep up with their interest in the subject. Usually students take a one or a two year break to prepare for the PG entrance.
There are several options when it comes to going for specialization, one is a 3 year M.D/M.S Course, another is 2 year PG Diploma course.

USMLE (United states Medical Licensing Exam):

It is a 3 step procedure exam for students who are willing to study in US after MBBS. Many Indian students at times fail to clear USMLE. Also the cost of doing USMLE is quite high. Even After clearing the exam, one is not secured to be able to study the same because of inability to secure US residency, which is mandatory for USMLE.

Research:

For some, the studies just doesn’t end after 5-6 years of MBBS degree, they rely on their will to learn and invent more. There are around 45 PhD courses after MBBS that has been recognized by MCI in India.

Duration of a PhD course is of 3 years. The most renowned research institute in India is the ICMR (Indian council for medical research). A degree from here adds 7 stars to your profile.

Hospital Management :

After MBBS abroad, students can go for MHA, i.e Masters in Hospital Management. It is a fast developing sector in today’s time, and offers a good career scope for the students with Medical Background.

An MBBS is a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree. It is the basic and most popular [undergraduate] medical degree pursued in India because it allows one to go on to get a Masters degree in a large variety of specializations (i.e. General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Radio-diagnosis, Radiotherapy, Obstetrics and Gynecology, etc), and is therefore extremely competitive. The length of the program is on average 5 and a half years, of which the first 3 semesters, lasting 18 months each, are spent on classes, while the last year is dedicated to the compulsory rotating internship. The cost for an MBBS varies depending on the institute, and ranges from Rs 332 per year for a local student to Rs 970 per year for an outstation student (from All India Institute of Medical Sciences AIIMS), to Rs 10,000-12,000 per year (for JIPMER), up to even 2-3 lakhs (not including housing and cost of food) per year (for a private college).

Students interested in MBBS degree in India must be at least 17 years of age at time of admission, and are required to complete a Higher Secondary [School] Certificate examination, a 10+2 standard. For the medical programs, the HSC (also known as the ’10+2′ exam) must be taken in the Science stream, in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and English, with a minimum of 50% marks in each course. Since MBBS admission requirements vary between institutions and only around 28,742 students are admitted annually, it is also important to get a high rank in the All India Pre Medical Entrance Exam (conducted by many different agencies).

Know the syllabus
Candidates starting to prepare for NEET at home must be familiar with the syllabus of NEET 2019 before rushing headlong into studies. With National Testing Agency (NTA) replacing Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) as the conducting body, it has been specified that there will be no change in NEET syllabusand NEET exam pattern apart from test being conducted online. The syllabus of NEET covers syllabi of various state boards, therefore one must be well versed with the topics that are covered under the syllabi of other states. Make a note of the topics that are not covered in your board syllabus and club them in order to prepare for NEET 2019.

Make a timetable

Aspirants who want to know how to prepare for NEET 2019 at home must follow a timetable over a long period of time. This will lead to discipline in your daily schedule and each day will bring the candidates near to the aim of cracking NEET UG. A well-crafted timetable allows you to bifurcate time and allot equal time to each section. Candidates must ensure that they analyse their weak areas as they cover a topic. This preparation strategy should be framed in a way that makes you do smart work along with hard work. The time that the aspirants are giving for NEET preparation should be in sync with regular studies and school timetable.

Start from basics

This has been the advice of all the toppers and guides alike that candidates preparing for NEET UG should start from the scratch. NEET 2019 aspirants are required to have the basic understanding of concepts. It is recommended to have in-depth knowledge of topics because rote learning will not be helpful in the exam. NCERT textbooks of Class 11 and 12 will be your best friends to start your preparations at home. When covering a topic write information you tend to forget in your notebook. It is suggested to make notes of important points as relying on just reading will not be sufficient. With this practice, aspirants can cover the whole syllabus starting from topics that they are comparatively easy for them and moving to the ones which seem challenging.

Take Mock Tests

Taking full-length mock tests is very essential for candidates who want to know how to prepare for NEET at home. There is no one to supervise and aspirants should be their best judge in this process. NEET should not be the candidates’ first experience and the mock test will acquaint with the exam pressure. The candidates will get habitual of completing the exam in three hours time. It should be made sure by the aspirants that the level of the mock test is similar to the NEET question paper level. Candidates can practice the previous year question papers while preparing which will give insights about the repetitive questions and important topics. Don’t wait for your preparations to get completed to attempt a mock test. Analyse your performance after every mock test and work on your weak areas.

Revise regularly

Since the syllabus of NEET 2019 is vast, revision is very crucial. Even if aspirants have acquired full knowledge about a particular topic, chapter, concept or subject, revision is must. Candidates can take 40-50 multiple choice questions from a particular topic or chapter and solve them taking 1 minute for each question. Aspirants can also go for comprehensive revision by taking up already covered topic. For this, NCERT textbooks of Class 11and 12, personal notes and modules will be beneficial.
