Domestic flights resume operations; Centre and State issue guidelines(SOPs) for Travellers safety

With domestic flights resuming operations from 25th May for major cities across the country the government is taking every possible initiative to revamp the normal life. India had suspended all flights on 25 March when the government first imposed a nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19. Several discussions were held between officials of states, civil aviation ministry and airline representatives to discuss the resumption of operations. The discussions covered the quarantine rules for flyers, standard operating procedures for airports, and the safety procedures to be followed by the passengers and airline crew to safely resume the operations.

All airports and airlines were informed by the government to prepare for resuming proper operations but the Indian airlines reopened advance bookings for passenger flights from 1st June onward even before the government plans to resume flight services were announced from 25 May. The Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for passenger movement has been issued by the ministry of civil aviation and the Union Health Ministry has also separately released guidelines for travellers on domestic and international flights for safety. The airlines have been strictly advised not to board anyone showing symptoms of Covid-19. Travelling passengers will have to submit an undertaking before boarding flight that they would undergo a compulsory quarantine for 14 days: which includes seven days paid institutional quarantine at their own expense after that seven days isolation at home with self-monitoring of health — according to the Health Ministry guidelines

The states have agreed to accept few flights to resume initial services but have also announced their own set of quarantine and self-isolation rules for the arriving passengers as per the assessment in line with the consultation from the Central government guidelines. Airline Carriers have resumed operations from all major Indian airports and tier-one cities airports but they have been advised to operate at only one-third of their capacity.

SOP for Domestic Flights

  • Passengers should reach the airport two hours in advance of flight time
  • Passengers will be allowed to enter the terminal building if their flights are within four hours

How Covid-19 has impacted the abroad study decision of students

CBSE releases new exam date sheet for pending Class Xth and Xth Board Exams: Check here for important details

The central board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the class 10 and 12 revised date sheet for the board exam 2020 on May 18th, 2020. According to the released date sheet, the CBSE Board Exams are now scheduled to be conducted from July 1st to July 15th 2020.

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown Class 12 (nationwide) board exams were halted midway and had to be postponed. Whereas, the class 10 exams are pending only in North East Delhi where they were first affected due to the law and order situation and later were further delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak, resulting in a four-month-long wait for the exams.

Class 12th is a very crucial year for the students as they take the big leap towards their college life which plays a crucial role in shaping their lives ahead. But since the situation is similar for all the education boards in the country, and at large all countries in the world, there is not much that could have been done in this scenario.

Consideration for competitive exams like NEET & JEE and college session

The schedule has been decided in order to ensure that the board exams are completed before competitive examinations such as engineering entrance JEE-Mains, which is scheduled from July 18-23, and medical entrance exam NEET, which is scheduled on July 26.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has also issued guidelines to the universities to commence their new academic session for fresher from September while for the existing students from August.

Simultaneous evaluation of answer sheets for early Result declaration

There are more than 35 lakh students who appear for board exams and around 2 crore CBSE answer sheets need to be checked for the same, as cited by the CBSE secretary. Even though some of the CBSE answer sheets were done checking in the 15 days of evaluation period before the Covid-19 lockdown was imposed around 70% i.e. approx 1.5 crores of CBSE answer sheets still need to be evaluated.

It is estimated that 1.5 to 2 months will be needed to carry out the paper evaluation. To timely declare the Board exams result it has been decided that exam answer sheets from around 3000 exam centres across India will be delivered to the homes of the board examiners who will carry out the checking process. After the paper evaluation is done, officials will come and collect the answer sheets to take them back to the board exam centres.  Teachers who are involved in the evaluation process will be exempted from delivering academic and administrative work for the tenure.

Home centre for pending exams to ensure safety

The HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishak in a question-and-answer round held at a national television said that the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) pending board exams will be held in students’ own school to ensure the least travel for them. He added that exams will be conducted amid strict norms of social distancing

Only Major exams necessary for promotion to be held

The board had last month announced that it will only conduct pending exams in 29 subjects which are crucial for promotion and admission to higher educational institutions. The pending major subjects of Class 10 board exams will only be held in North Delhi and nowhere else in India as all other CBSE Class 10 students have already appeared for these exams.

The minor exams for both CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 will not be carried out and students will be marked in those subjects based on the internal assessment marks.

Date sheet released timely for the exam

CBSE had earlier stated that students would be given at least 10 days’ time to prepare for the remaining CBSE board exams. But thankfully, they got much more time than that since the CBSE date sheet for the board exam 2020 was released on May 18 and the exams will be held from July 1 to 15 which is good 1&1/2 month beforehand.

Health-related guidelines issued for Students & Parents

With the date sheet to keep in mind, students should also keep a check on their personal safety during this time. Students should know about the important health-related guidelines regarding the CBSE Board Exam 2020 which will be strictly followed during the examinations.

Safety Guidelines for CBSE Board examination centres

The MHRD Minister said that CBSE has been given instructions in this regard and the guidelines of the Ministry of Health. These instructions are as follows:

  • All students must bring a hand sanitizer for themselves in a transparent bottle.
  • All students will cover their nose and mouth with a cloth or mask.
  • All students must follow the physical distance rules.
  • To prevent the spread of Covid-19, parents need to inform their children about the necessary precautions.
  • Parents have to ensure that their child is not ill.
  • All the students will have to strictly follow the rules issued while taking the exam.
  • Students have to follow all the rules given in the admit card.

Examination day details

  • The duration of the examination is given in the date sheet and admit card.
  • Answer book will be divided between 10 am and 10:15 am.
  • The question paper will be given at 10:15 am.
  • Students will read their question papers from 10:15 to 10:30 am (15 mins).
  • From 10:30 am, students will start writing their answers.

Maintaining a routine and cultivating productive habits in this time of COVID-19

With the whole country almost coming to a standstill in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown lives of all the citizens working, non-working, youngsters, elderly, rich, poor have all been affected in some or the other way. Irrespective of where you are the whole country is observing the safety curfew for themselves, their families and for the society as a whole. In this testing time, the entire nation has come together and joined hands to ensure the safety of the whole generation and pledged to emerge stronger as an individual and as a nation of brave hearts.

Due to the pandemic and the national lockdown, there has been a sudden change in basic lifestyle we have been living so far. Even though we are determined and motivated to get through this testing scenario but a proper guideline or strategy towards achieving the same is equally important to emerge victoriously. We have to rethink our schedule and plan a routine that is productive as well as fulfilling to help us sail through this restructured lifestyle.

Stay active and maintain a routine

Staying active is the key to beating stress and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Exercising improves strength and agility and declutters your mind of passive thoughts. Since the option of working out in gyms is still far fetched, implementing a personalized exercise routine will eliminate your dependency on gyms for basic workout and also help you in finding a regime that suits your preference and body. Yoga and meditation are other excellent ways to keep yourself fit and balanced. Workin out and can help build your immunity in times like these. Meditation can help you destress and relax. It will help you gain energy and boost stamina. Parents should ensure that physical activity is part of the routine for children as well to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Spend quality time with family

The lockdown has given us the opportunity to stay at home 24/7, normally during your busy school or college lives, office work you may not get enough time to talk to your family and spend quality time with them. You can make this time enjoyable by spending time with family members around you. Try to involve yourself as much as you can with family discussions. Spreading laughter and positivity is the best you can contribute to your family.  Help your parents in the household chores, spend time with your grandparents, involve kids in small tasks to make them more connected in the family rather than just playing games or watching TVs.

Read or listen to audiobooks

Utilise the time to read books you have purchased and not started or finish the book you left unfinished because you weren’t getting enough time in your schedule of work. Books are the perfect way to spend long lockdown days. Spending your quality me time alone is also important for unwinding and getting lost in a good book is one of the best ways to feel relaxed. Read genres that interest you. If you have read through your entire bookshelf you can always find more books online. If you are not in the mood for reading you also have the option of listening to the audiobooks of your favourite authors or you can also listen to inspiring and interesting podcasts which are a raging trend these days.

Stay Positive

Remember that the lockdown is a temporary condition, it is not a lifelong condition. Effective ways to follow “social distancing” and still keeping in touch with your loved ones should be your focus. Keep in touch on video and audio calls and share positive messages on social media. Disruption of routine and obscurity leads a lot of people to anxiety, maintain a positive attitude and do things that make you happy like cooking, working out, praying, playing with children, spending time with family members, etc.

Find a work/study balance

With all of of us confined to our homes due to the current unfortunate occurrence, going to schools or coachings for studying is no longer an option. If you are a student you must maintain a proper disciple in your study routine and not let this time disrupt your education. If you are a professional working from home try to maintain an office like and disciplined environment during your working hours. If you want you can also wear your work clothes while working from home to comply your brain for an official environment.

Use your time in lockdown wisely, instead of stress and anxiety utilize this time to improve your skills and stay positive. When you think positively you can get many new opportunities in life under any circumstances.
