  1. Indian candidate must have an MBBS degree from a recognised medical college and successfully completed one year of internship. The candidate must be registered with the Medical Council of India.
  2. Candidates must be provisionally registered with NMC for the period of their study exclusively for the college/institution where they are admitted.
  3. The entrance requirement for foreign candidates will be according to the rules and regulations of the concerned University; however, they should appear in PG entrance examinations conducted by B.P. Koirala/Kathmandu University/IOM[as preferred by the candidate]


NEPAL-MD/MS: SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR INDIAN CANDIDATES

  1. Candidates for Nepal-MD/MS courses shall be selected on a merit basis. The criteria for merit will be according to the University [B.P. Koirala/Kathmandu University/IOM] rules based on the PG Entrance Examination.
  2. All students including international students must take and pass the PG entrance examinations conducted by the University [B.P. Koirala/Kathmandu University/IOM]
  3. Those who secure more than 50% marks in the entrance exam are listed in the merit.
  4. Based on the marks obtained a separate merit list is prepared by the University [B.P. Koirala/Kathmandu University/IOM] for Nepalese and Foreign students and admission is granted according to the merit secured.

How to Apply at BPKIHS for MD/MS Courses

  1. Candidate must submit his/her application online ONLY. There is no provision for manual submission of application.
  2. Upload Scanned copies of all the original certificates/documents and recent colour photo & signature as and where necessary.
  3. Attach scan copy of bank voucher/SWIFT transfer receipt of application fee as instructed in the online application form.
  4. Once the form has been submitted, it will be scrutinized and the status of the application will be informed after 7 days.
  5. Candidates must retain the original bank voucher/SWIFT transfer receipt as it needs to be deposited at the time of Entrance examination to be eligible to enter the examination centre.
  6. Admit card will be electronically issued after verification of the uploaded certificates/bank voucher/SWIFT transfer and the application form which should be downloaded.


Documents required for MD/MS application form

Scanned copies of each of the following original documents should be uploaded (scanned copies of photocopies will not be accepted):

  • Certificate of registration with the Medical Council/accreditation body in their respective country.
  • Passport / Voter ID Card / Domicile Certificate for International candidates (No other identity card will be accepted).
  • Banks voucher/SWIFT transfer receipt.
  • Two-year work experience certificate for government-sponsored candidates and no objection certificate (NOC) from the Department of Health Services, Government of Nepal.
  • Two years bond completion certificate till the last date of submission of online application.

Selection Process at BPKIHS for MD/MS Courses:

  • The selection of candidates will be based on Entrance Examination.
  • The Entrance Examination consists of 200 multiple choice questions (single response) carrying 200 marks covering all the undergraduate MBBS subjects for MD/MS/MDHA and BDS subjects for MDS.
  • There is no negative marking.
  • The Entrance Examination is common for Nepalese and International candidates.
  • The duration of the examination is 3 hours.
  • Candidate (both Nepalese and International) who secures at least 50% marks (cut-off point) in the Entrance Examination will be eligible for counselling.
  • Selection will be based on merit and counselling: There will be two separate merit lists for: Nepalese candidates and International candidates

Eligibility Criteria of MD/MS for Indian students

Candidates who meet the following eligibility criteria are eligible to apply for PG Entrance Examination for admission to MD/MS in Basic Medical Sciences and Clinical Sciences:

  1. Less than 45 years of age on the last date of submission of application
  2. Passed I.Sc or Class XII or 10+2 system or A level or equivalent examination
  3. MBBS or an equivalent medical degree recognized by BPKIHS and who have completed one year of internship.
  4. Registered with Medical Council in their respective state/country.

In southern Nepal, summer temperatures exceed 40° C and in winter temperatures range from 7°C to 23°C. In mountainous regions, hills and valleys summers are temperate while winter temperatures can drop to sub-zero. The Kathmandu Valley has a pleasant climate with average summer temperatures of 20°C – 35°C and 2°C – 12°C in winter. Average temperatures in Nepal drop 6°C for every 1,000 m you gain in altitude.



CURRENCY

The currency of Nepal is NEPALI RUPEES. There are coins for denominations of one, two, five and 10 rupees, and banknotes in denominations of one, two, five, 10, 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 rupees. It’s easy to change cash and access ATMs in Kathmandu, Pokhara and other cities, but almost impossible in rural areas or on treks.


SHOPPING

Exquisite handicrafts with exclusive workmanship are sold in the markets of Nepal. Artistic works of stone and metal, silver and gold trinkets and incredible wood carvings are readily available. Other kinds of souvenirs include Nepali tea, the famous Gurkha knife, prayer wheels, stone carvings, singing bowls, papier–maché masks, pashmina, carpets, jewellery etc.

Souvenir items are available in tourist areas like Thamel, New Road, Basantapur, Asan, Patan, Bhaktapur and around major hotels. But remember anything older than 100 years old cannot be taken out of the country.



HOW TO REACH NEPAL FROM INDIA


By Air

There are a handful of airlines that operate daily from India including Jet Airways, Indigo and Air India to Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Other airlines that connect Nepal to various international destinations are Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Etihad Airlines, Silk Air, Oman Airlines, Air China, Air Asia, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia.

By Train

There are regular passenger and cargo trains that connect Sirsiya (Southern Nepal) and Raxaul (India). There is no visa requirement and this option is only open to Indians and Nepalese.

By Road

The bus is the most convenient option to reach Nepal from India. There are direct buses that operate between Delhi and Kathmandu. Travelling by car is also a common practice. You are required to pay a toll fee and a transport permit at the border crossing. Do not forget to collect the receipts as you might be asked at other checkpoints. Please note, there is a lot of traffic at the border that often makes the journey tedious.

HOW TO APPLY AT B.P. KOIRALA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

Candidate must submit his/her application online ONLY. There is no provision for manual submission of application.

  • Application forms have to be submitted online on the institute’s website: entrance.bpkihs.edu
  • Scanned copies of all the essential original certificates/documents, photo & signature must be uploaded along with the application.
  • The full signature of the selected candidate will be verified at the time of entrance examination and admission.
  • A photograph and digital thumbprint of the candidate will be taken during the entrance examination for verification of his/her identity and for keeping institutional record.

  • Transcript of I.Sc or Class XI & XII of 10+2 system or A-level or equivalent examination.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Have passed ISc or class XII examination of the 10+2 system or A level or its equivalent Higher Secondary Education Board with Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English as their major subjects and obtained at least 50% marks each in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and also 50% marks in aggregate and
  • Are at least 17 years of age as on 31st December 2019 are eligible to apply in the MBBS and/or BDS courses.
  • Candidates from institutions following Grade System must get the certified equivalence marks percentage for their grades.
  • Any student already studying in any of the course at BPKIHS under any program is not eligible to take this entrance examination.

  • Once the form has been submitted, it will be scrutinized and the status of the application will be informed after 7 days after verification.
  • Candidates must bring the original bank voucher/SWIFT transfer receipt at the time of Entrance Examination.
  • Admit card will be electronically issued which can be downloaded after 10th September, 2019 onward following verification of the uploaded certificates/bank voucher/SWIFT transfer and the application form.


MODE OF PAYMENT

  • The fee should be deposited in favor of “B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan” by Bank Voucher. OR
  • A SWIFT transfer should be made in favor of “B. P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan” in any one of the banks mentioned below.
  • The Name and Application Registration ID of the candidate should be clearly mentioned in the Bank Voucher or SWIFT transfer document.
  • The fees can be deposited at any of the following banks. Deposition of fees from India will be convenient if done through SBI-NEPAL EXPRESS REMITTANCE OR INDO-NEPAL REMITTANCE. Drafts will not be accepted.

PREPARATION OF MERIT LIST 

Only the names of candidates who have scored 50% marks (cut off mark) and above will be included in the merit lists and will be eligible for counseling.

There will be three merit lists as follows

  • Nepalese Open Category (MBBS/BDS : HSTFS/PSTFS)
  • Nepalese Reserved Category (MBBS/BDS : HSTFS/PSTFS)
  • International Category (MBBS/BDS) : HSTFS/PSTFS – Reserved for Indian Nationals only. ITFS (Foreign Nationals including Indian Nationals)

COUNSELING PROCEDURE AT B.P. KOIRALA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

  • All qualified candidates must be physically present at the time of counseling in the counseling hall (Auditorium Hall of BPKIHS). Candidates must arrive on time.
  • Candidates are required to bring their original certificates /documents to be eligible to attend the counseling session.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF COUNSELLING

  • Entrance Examination Admit card
  • Original mark sheet/transcript of SLC/Class 10/matriculation
  • Original mark sheet/transcript of I.Sc or class XI and XII of 10+2 system or A level or equivalent examination.
  • Original citizenship/passport (will be returned after verification)

The names of the candidates will be called in the order of merit and the candidate will be given the opportunity to choose from the available seats and programs.

After choosing the seat, s/he will receive confirmation slips after which s/he will have to get his/her original documents verified and deposit them immediately and start the process of admission.

Failure to deposit the original certificates as listed above will lead to immediate cancellation of the admission and the vacant seat will be offered to the next candidate in the merit list in the counseling session.

COUNSELING SCHEDULE

  • International Day 1: International Category including Indian Nationals
  • Nepalese Day 2: Candidates having rank 1 to 600 in the Merit list.
  • Day 3: Candidates having rank 601 to 1200 in the Merit list. (If the seats are not fulfilled on day 2) and all reserved categories.
  • Day 4: Candidates having rank 1201 onwards in the Merit list. (If the seats are not fulfilled on day 3) Subsequent counseling will be done in the same order.

REPORTING TO B.P. KOIRALA INSTITUTE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

The list of successful candidates after counseling will be made available at the following sites on the same day:

  • Notice board of the Academic Administration, BPKIHS, Dharan
  • Website of the Institute: entrance.bpkihs.edu

The successful candidates along with their parent(s) are required to report to the Academic Administration, BPKIHS, Dharan within the stipulated date and time for completing admission formalities, viz. medical check-up, payment of fees and agreement.

If the candidate does not come in person, the admission process will not proceed.

Please note that it will take about three days to get complete report of the Medical Check-up, and therefore the candidates should contact the Academic Administration, BPKIHS, Dharan as early as possible.

If any candidate selected for admission fails to join the course for any reason by the last date, his/her place will be filled in the subsequent counseling.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR MBBS IN NEPAL


A candidate shall be eligible for MBBS in Nepal on fulfilling the criteria mentioned below:

  • Must have passed 12th or equivalent qualification from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) and passed in each subject with a minimum of 50% in PCB and in aggregate.

OR

  • Passed Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree recognized by the Universities in Nepal with biological sciences and must have passed the Higher Secondary Education (Science) or 10+2 (Science) or Intermediate of Science or equivalent Science education with Biology, Physics, and Chemistry.
  • Must have passed the Medical Entrance Examination conducted for MBBS program by BPKIHS, KU,TU

SELECTION CRITERIA FOR MBBS IN NEPAL


  • Admission will be made on the basis of performance in the entrance test followed by an interview.
  • Results will be published one week before the starting date.
  • Foreign students will be selected on the basis of eligibility criteria and interviews after passing Common Entrance test conducted by KU, TU, BPKIHS and duly filling the application form of the individual colleges.

NOTE: Interview will be conducted by the respective College in which admission is being sought.

B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences Conducts Pre-medical entrance exam for admissions to MBBS, BDS, BSc Nursing and BSc MIT Programs every year in the month of July/August for Nepalese and Foreign Students

Candidates who are interested and seek admission in B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences are informed to apply with scanned copy of all original documents along with Bank Deposit Receipt of Entrance Examination and Counselling Fee (non refundable) must be submitted while submitting online application form.

Foreign candidates must appear in the Central Entrance Test conducted by B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences .

The Entrance Examination will be of 3½ hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 Multiple Choice Questions. There is no negative marking. The language of the question paper will be English.

Admissions are taken only on the basis of the merit secured in the entrance exam and counselling conducted by B.P.Koirala Institute of Health Sciences.


INSTITUTE OF MEDICINE, TRIBHUVAN UNIVERSITY & ITS AFFILIATED COLLEGES


Institute of Medicine Nepal conducts a common entrance exam every year for both Nepalese and foreign students for MBBS program at IOM and its affiliated colleges.

The paper will be a multiple choice question based examination.

The total marks will be 100 and there will be no negative marking.

Admission Procedure at Institute of Medicine:

Eligible aspirants for MBBS at Institute of Medicine must take the Medical Entrance Examination conducted by Institute of Medicine, TU.

All students including international students must take and pass the Medical Entrance Examinations of Institute of Medicine

Those who secure more than 50% marks in IOM exam are listed in the merit.

Based on the marks obtained in IOM exam a separate merit list is prepared for Nepalese and Foreign students and admission is granted according to the merit secured.

Candidates are required to register with the affiliated colleges separately by remitting the prescribed fee along with the application form for registration duly filled in and forwarded to the University through the Dean of the School of Medical Science or the Principal of the affiliated college within the stipulated date.

KATHMANDU UNIVERSITY & ITS AFFILIATED UNIVERSITIES


The KU conducts KUMET test every year in the month of July/August. Students (Nepalese and Foreign) have to pass the KUMET.

Admission will be done as per the guidelines of KU on the merit basis.

Original certificate and citizenship certificates are required for the admission.

Admission procedure for Foreign Citizen

Candidates who are interested and seek admission in MBBS/BDS programs of Kathmandu University are informed to apply with scanned copy 12th mark sheet and Citizenship/Passport.

Foreign candidates must appear in the Central Entrance Test KUMET conducted by Kathmandu University.

Candidates have to forward their application together with attested copies of their testimonials addressed to the principal of respective Medical College. All the students may contact respective colleges individually for application forms, prospectus or further details.

Only the Indian students who have passed NEET are eligible to apply.

Every candidate admitted in the course by Kathmandu University or any of the affiliated medical colleges shall register with University by remitting the prescribed fee along with the application form for registration duly filled in and forwarded to the University through the Dean of the School of Medical Science or the Principal of the affiliated college within the stipulated date.
