Benefits of studying in China

Do you know this about Kazakhstan

The students going for MBBS abroad should make up their mind beforehand to be away from family and friends as the change of place might make them homesick and nostalgic for first few days.

You will have to adapt to a new environment, culture and learning experience which can also been seen as a good sign as you will gain new perspective in life.

During winters the temperature in some part of the country gets very cold but after living there for a while students adapt to the weather conditions after all so many Indian students are already studying here.

After completing your MBBS abroad if you want to practice in India you need to clear a licensure exam for getting registered as a Medical Practitioner but you are also eligible to take exams like USLME (USA), PLAB (UK), etc if you want to practice abroad.

The undergraduate course of MBBS in Kazakhstan is of 6 years in English Medium but for practical exposure you will have to learn a little bit of local language to communicate with patients.

The Admission process is not direct; hence you cannot deal directly with any University. You will have to rely on a good educational consultancy that has experience in sending students for MBBS abroad.

Although the fee structure would be different in any individual University but still the country in which the University is located also plays an important role in the whole course cost.

Kazakhstan is far much cheap rather than other European or CIS countries and Kazakhstan’s food, living, etc expenses are almost same as living in Indian cities making it more favorable place for Indians.

In the end it entirely depends on an individual’s point of view what they accept as advantage or disadvantage for them.

But you will definitely get rewarding and fruitful results for all your hard work and efforts, as this is just a stepping stone towards becoming a successful doctor.

LIVING IN ROMANIA

ABOUT ROMANIA

Romania has a large melange of culture and traditions to offer. Think medieval towns, time-capsule villages, delicious cuisine, picturesque monasteries, virgin forests, majestic mountains, a blossoming art community, impressive landscape and high quality education and it all consolidates Romania.

Romania is bounded by Ukraine to the north, Moldova to the northeast, the Black Sea to the southeast, Bulgaria to the south, Serbia to the southwest, and Hungary to the west.

Romania enjoys a considerable wealth of natural resources: fertile land for agriculture; pastures for livestock; forests that provide hard and soft woods; petroleum reserves; metals, including gold and silver in the Apuseni Mountains; numerous rivers that supply hydroelectricity; and a Black Sea coastline that is the site of both ports and resorts.

CLIMATE

Romania has a climate that is temperate and continental, with four distinct seasons. The average annual temperature is 11 °C (52 °F) in the south and 8 °C (46 °F) in the north. In summer, average maximum temperatures in Bucharest rise to 28 °C (82 °F), and temperatures over 35 °C (95 °F) are fairly common in the lower-lying areas of the country. In winter, the average maximum temperature is below 2 °C (36 °F).

LANGUAGE

Romanian is spoken as a first language by approximately 90% of the entire population, while Hungarian and Vlax Romani are spoken by 6.2% and 1.2% of the population, respectively. There are also native speakers of Ukrainian, German and Turkish language living in Romania.

English and French are the main foreign languages taught in schools in Romania .

RELIGION

Romania is a secular state and has no state religion.  81.0% of the population identify themselves as Christians.  From the remaining population the people belong to other Christian denominations or have another religion comprising Muslims and Jewish. Few are atheist, whilst the religion of the rest is unknown.

FOOD

In Romania eggs and sandwiches with butter and meat, pastry or jam accompanied by coffee of tea are regular breakfast staples. Many kinds of meat are consumed in the country: pork, veal, chicken, turkey, rabbit, and fish. ‘Mititei’ soup, grilled sausage seasoned with garlic, is a common appetizer.

Main dishes are usually meat-based, such as tocana, a pork stew flavored with garlic and onions. Other popular dishes include sarmale cabbage leaves stuffed with rice and meat, and mamaliga (polenta), a cornmeal dish often served with poached eggs. Borsch, cabbage soup with bran, or ciorba, lamb soup, mushrooms, and other meats and vegetables, is often served.

Vegetables are served as side dishes, except for lent when a variety of vegetable – based dishes are usually served in every restaurant or household.

Typical desserts include “plăcinte”, a kind of pie using either salty or sweet ingredients or ‘Papanasi’ – a kind of donut accompanied with jam and sour cream – simply delicious!

For groceries shopping, big chain supermarkets are available in Romania , however for fresh and tasty veggies, the farmers markets are advisable.

CURRENCY

The Romanian currency is the LEU (plural: LEI), also listed as RON. One LEU is divided into 100 BANI.

Banknotes come in denominations of 1 leu, 5 lei,10 lei, 50 lei, 100 lei, 200 lei and 500 lei. The coins come in 50 bani and relatively useless 10 bani pieces.

Try to keep small-denomination (1 leu and 5 lei) notes on hand for shops, transport tickets, cafes and tips for waiters.

ATMs are everywhere and give 24-hour withdrawals in lei with a variety of international bank cards, including Visa and MasterCard. Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels and restaurants.

MONEY EXCHANGES

The best place to exchange money in Romania is at a bank. You’ll pay a small commission, but get a decent rate. You can also change money at a private exchange booth (casa de schimb) but be cautious of commission charges and always ask how many lei you will receive before handing over your bills. You will usually need to show a passport to change money, so always have it handy. Never change money on the street with strangers; it’s almost always a rip-off.

TRANSPORTATION

The transport network in Romania is fairly developed. A large rail and bus network exists, quality roads connect most of the country, and distant cities are connected by domestic flights. Larger cities have extensive public transport systems.

  • By car

Traveling by car or coach is the easiest way and a majority, over 60 percent of foreign tourists use this way of transportation.

  • By taxi

Taxis are relatively inexpensive in Romania and a popular way to travel with both locals and travelers. A Fly Taxi company also operates from the Henri Coanda (Otopeni) Airport.

  • By bus

Bus can be the least expensive method to travel between towns. You can find one or several bus terminals (autogara) from where buses and minibuses depart for the towns and villages in the nearby area and to other cities in the country.

Minibuses are usually very uncomfortable, some buses are old and slow and delays of over an hour are not uncommon, especially for inter-city buses. However, buses are the best solution for a number of routes badly served by the railway network. Buses inside the cities are often crowded, so a reservation by phone might be necessary.

SHOPPING

Shopping experience in Romania can be fun and full of rich options. The little Romanian souvenirs shops are waiting for you as well: it’s where you will find local handmade items such as painted eggs, beautiful painted Orthodox Icons, embroidery and much more.

In China, night life is a big part of people’s living, and they usually hang out in nights for a meal or for recreation. It is safe for someone to hang out, even in nights.

Millions of security surveillance cameras are installed for the public’s safety and enforcement, there are millions of public security police, and offices of public security police are distributed in every district.

Currency

The official currency of the People’s Republic of China is the Renminbi often abbreviated as RMB. The base unit of this currency is the yuan (元), international currency code CNY. All prices in China are given in yuan, usually either as ¥ or 元. 10 jiao is 1 yuan .

ATMs are available nationwide. Most ATMs outside the large cities that accept Cirrus, PLUS, VISA and MasterCard-affiliated cards are owned by Bank of China or the Industrial and Commercial Bank.

How to reach China

The main international gateways to mainland China are:

  • Beijing Capital International Airport-

Located 25 km northeast from the center of Beijing, the capital of China Beijing Capital International Airport has the largest number of international routes especially from North America and Europe. It has English signs to guide passengers and you can easily travel between downtown Beijing and the airport via the Airport Express train.

  • Shanghai Pudong International Airport-

Located in Pudong New Area, about 30 km to the east of the center of Shanghai, Shanghai Pudong International Airport is the second busiest airport in China and has the second largest number of international routes in China.  Being one of the three main air hubs in China the Airport has direct routes from almost all major cities in China.

  • Hong Kong International Airport-

Located on the island of Lantau, Hong Kong International Airport is one of Asia’s major transportation hubs and services most of the countries in the region. Being adjacent to mainland China, Hong Kong International Airport has flights from many cities throughout China. One can travel from Hong Kong to Guangzhou by bullet train in just one hour and from Hong Kong to Guilin in about 3.5 hours.

  • Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport-

Located about 30 km to the south of Guangzhou city center, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is one of the three major international airports in mainland China. It offers a larger number of flights from Australia and New Zealand. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is also a major hub for domestic flights.

  • Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport-

Located in Chengdu city in Sichuan province, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is the busiest aviation hub in mid-west China and the biggest transit gateway to Gonggar Airport in Lhasa. Chengdu is geographically closer to Europe, making it a good gateway for European travelers whose China trip includes a visit to Chengdu, Tibet, or other areas near Chengdu.

  • Kunming Changshui International Airport-

Located in Kunming, an important center in southwest China; Kunming Changshui International Airport operates routes from countries in Southeast Asia and South Asia.

Almost every sizable city will have an international airport, but options are usually limited to flights from Hong Kong, neighboring countries such as South Korea and Japan, and sometimes Southeast Asia.

Major domestic airlines include Air China, China Southern, China Eastern, Hainan Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines.

Getting around

  • By Flight

Flights connect all the major cities and tourist destinations. Airlines include the three international carriers: Air China, China Southern and China Eastern, as well as regional ones including Hainan Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Sichuan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines

  • By train

Train travel is the major mode of long-distance transportation for the Chinese. Their extensive and rapidly expanding network of routes covers the entire country.

  • By bus

Travelling by public city buses or long-distance buses is inexpensive and ideal for in-city and short-distance transportation.

On city buses there are plastic seats, many people, no English signs and unhelpful drivers.

  • By subway

Cities such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Shenyang, Xian, Chengdu and Nanjing have subway systems.

Chongqing has monorail systems.

Xiamen has a system of bus-only roads for bus rapid transit, mostly elevated.

Generally these are modern, clean, cheap and efficient, and virtually all station signs, train signs, and ticket machines are bilingual in both English and Chinese with bi-lingual staff members.

Therefore, the subway might be the easiest way to travel through the city for a non-Chinese speaker.

  • By taxi

Taxis are generally common, and reasonably priced in China. In most situations, an ordinary trip within the city costs between ¥10 and ¥50.There is no extra charge for luggage but night fares are higher. Tips are not expected.

China is too large a country to realistically explore in one trip; most travelers should plan multiple trips if they hope to see a broad spectrum of the nation.
