About Urgench branch Tashkent Medical Academy
Tashkent Medical Academy is a government medical university established on April 13, 1919 in the Tashkent city for training highly qualified medical personnel throughout the nation by imparting an effective organization of specialised educational process.
The first branch of this renowned institution was established in March 1992 as Urgench branch of Tashkent Medical Academy by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers and order of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan as Khorezm regional center for advanced training of medical workers.
Later on in 1995 the branch was transferred as a medical center with two faculties to Urgench State University which nowadays offers 58 Bachelor degree, 27 Master degree and 20 PhD programs with number of students studying at different specialties counting up to 16496 out of which 1189 are foreign students.
Finally on June 3, 1998, the Urgench State University Medical Center was transformed into an independent educational institution named as – Urgench branch of the first Tashkent State Medical Institute to provide affordable medical education of global standard and to bring reforms in the health care system.
