PG Medical Entrance Exams

Following are the several entrance exams conducted by different bodies of India for Medical aspirants who want to advance in their education and career.


NEET-PG

NEET-PG is a national level medical entrance exam held every year to admit medical aspirants into MD/MS/Post Graduate Diploma courses at all government and private medical colleges, Deemed/Central Universities except: AIIMS New Delhi and others, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, SCTIMST Trivandrum and PGIMER Chandigarh.

NEET PG exam is conducted once in a year through online mode and the application form of NEET PG is released (tentative) in the first week of November.

National Board of Examinations (NBE) conducts the following examinations on an All India basis on Computer Based Platform

  • DNB PD CET- For entry to various post diploma DNB courses
  • NEET-PG- For admission to all MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses
  • NEET-SS- For admission to all Super Specialty (DM/MCh) Courses
  • NEET-MDS- For admission to all MDS Courses
  • FMGE- Screening Test for Foreign Graduates



AIIMS NEW DELHI

All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) are a group of autonomous government public medical colleges of higher education conducting national level entrance exam AIIMS PG for admission into various postgraduate courses.

AIIMS offers following courses:

  • PG Courses MD/MS/MCH(6YRS)/DM(6YRS)/MDS
  • Post-Graduate & Post-Doctoral Course [DM/M.Ch & MD (Hospital Administration) –Duration 3 yrs
  • Fellowship Programme (Duration 1-2 yrs depending upon speciality)

Application submission and entrance examination are done through online mode (At www.aiimsexams.org). The test is held twice every year.


JIPMER PUDUCHERRY

Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (JIPMER) is a medical school and a tertiary care referral hospital under the direct administrative control of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India with autonomy to run its internal administration located at Pondicherry.

JIPMER offers courses in a variety of specializations for 200 postgraduate students and 36 Doctoral students.

Three-year postgraduate courses MD/MS entrance examination is conducted twice a year in May and in November and Super-specialty courses are offered in Medical (DM) and Surgical (MCh) specialties.

Entrance examination for three year PhD courses is conducted once every year.



NIMHANS BENGALURU

National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro-Sciences is a premier medical institution located in Bangalore, India.

NIMHANS is the apex centre for mental health and neuroscience education in the country, the institute operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

It offers PhD, Super speciality [DM/MCh], Postdoctoral Fellowship in Neuropathology/Neuro anaesthesia, Postgraduate and Postgraduate Diploma Courses.

Application submission and entrance examination are done through online mode (only). (At www.nimhans.ac.in)


SCTIMST TRIVANDRUM

Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) is an autonomous medical school at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

The institute is under the Administrative Control of the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India.

It offers postdoctoral, doctoral and postgraduate courses in medical specialties, public health, nursing, basic sciences and health care technology.

Application submission through ONLINE MODE ONLY (At www.sctimst.ac.in)

The selection is carried out twice in a calendar year, in June and November for July and January sessions, respectively.



PGIMER CHANDIGARH

Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) is a medical and research institution in Chandigarh, India.

PGIMER offers three-year postgraduate courses [MD, MS, MDS], Super-specialty courses [DM, MCh], Doctoral courses [PhD] ,Two years MHA & MPH and one year Post M.D. Certificate Course.

Admission to post doctoral and postgraduate courses is made twice a year during September/October and March/April for the January and July session respectively. (At www.pgimer.edu.in)
