NEET-SS 2020 Entrance Exam Postponed not to be conducted in July/August

Through a recent notice published on the official website on 15th May 2020, Joint Director (Medical) Department of Examinations, National Board of Examinations (NBE), Dr. Vinay Gupta has informed that the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET-SS 2020) for admission to Super Speciality Courses for the July session is unlikely to be conducted in July/August 2020.

The NEET-SS is conducted by NBE as per the schedule of admissions notified in Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (PGMER), 2000 as a single eligibility-cum-ranking entrance examination for admission to various DM/MCh courses. No other entrance examination, either at the state or the Institution level, is valid for entry to DM/MCh courses as per the Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Act, 2016 w.e.f. 2017 admission session. Qualifying NEET-SS is a compulsory requirement for entry to DM/MCh courses at various Universities/ Institutions across the country.

In view of the Covid-19 pandemic and the lockdown imposed to curb its spread, the exit examinations of MD, MS and DNB Broad Specialty candidates have been deferred across the country. Therefore, the final examination results are also unlikely to be declared by July 15, 2020, which is the cut-off date as per the existing regulations to qualify MD, MS and DNB Broad Specialty exit exam for being able to appear for NEET SS of the respective admission year.

Due to these unforeseen circumstances, the conduction of exam in July/August can not be undertaken and the revised schedule for NEET-SS 2020 shall be published on the official website in due time.
