MCI introduces 1 month compulsory foundation course for MBBS students


The Medical Council of India (MCI) has launched a one-month foundation course for all the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students across the country on Professionalism and Ethics.

Foundation Course introduced by the Board of Governors at the beginning of the MBBS course for one-month duration will equip fresh medical student coming from varied backgrounds with the required knowledge and skills, that will assist them in acclimatizing to the new professional environment and provide a sound foundation for learning in the MBBS course and later in their professional career.

The Foundation Course is compulsory, and an attendance of 75% will be mandatory with the total teaching hours being 175.

The major components of the Foundation Course will include:


Orientation module

It will introduce clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a doctor in society, in the health care system and the expectations from society, patients and the profession.

The students will be introduced to History of Medicine and alternate systems practices in India and its impact on patient preferences and choices.

Difference in Alternative Medicine, Complementary Medicine and Evidence based Medicine and recognition of various career pathways available for Career growth.


Skills Module (Basic)

This involves skill sessions such as Basic Life Support, First Aid, Immunization, Universal precautions and biomedical waste and safety management, significance of documentation in patient care and the proper method of documentation that students need to be trained prior to entering the patient care areas.


Field visit to Community and Primary Health Center

These visits provide orientation to the care delivery through community and primary health centers. It includes interaction with health care workers, patients and their families and understanding of the National Health Goals and Policies.


Professional development including Ethics

This is an introduction to the concept of Professionalism and Ethics. This component will provide students with understanding of clinical competence, communication skills and sound ethical principles.

It will include respect towards the differently abled persons and introduce the students to the basic concept of compassionate care and functioning as a part of a health care team.


Sports and Extracurricular activities

It will demonstrate the importance of work-life balance in a demanding profession, and provide an opportunity for students to have compulsory physical activity -4 hours per week for sports and 2 hours per week for extracurricular activities.

JIPMER PG 2020[DM/MCh] CERTIFICATE VERIFICATION PROCESS

  • Candidates who qualify for Certificate Verification should report at venue, date and time mentioned in the website at the time of declaration of results.
  • Bio-metric finger print and image verification of the candidate will be done on the day of certificate verification.
  • If the certificates are in any other language, except in English, English Translation attested by a Gazetted Officer should be produced.

  • Overseas citizens of India: Individuals residing overseas must be registered under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955. They will be required to upload their OCI card at the time of application process.

Along with that Generation of Registration Unique Code (RUC) for AIIMS PG Courses MD/MS/MCH (6YRS)/DM (6YRS)/MDS for January 2020 Session has also started.

Only those candidates who will complete the PAAR registration for AIIMS PG 2020 and submit the required documents will be able to download the admit card.

The admit card for January session for 6 years & 3 years courses will be released in November 2019.

The exams for January session will be organized on 17th November 2019 (6 years courses) & 3rd November 2019 (3 years courses).

Important tips for clearing NEET PG Exam 2020


Study religiously

Study regularly and diligently for 10-12 hours every day subject wise and take subject wise tests after completing topics. Don’t just mug everything; instead try to understand the concepts while studying.

Prepare notes

Simultaneously preparing notes while studying will assist you in revision and having a quick glance before the actual exam. Studying through notes is quicker than going through books while revising.

Always clear your doubts

Finish your course early

NEET PG 2020 Eligibility Criteria


  • Candidates in possession of MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956.
  • Possess permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.
  • Have completed one year of internship or are likely to complete the internship on or before 31st March 2019.
  • Each candidate can register for NEET-PG 2020 once only. Any candidate found to submit more than one application form shall be automatically debarred and his/her candidature cancelled.
  • Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have obtained their degrees outside India should have qualified Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) conducted by National Board of Examinations.
  • They should have been registered with MCI/SMC and should have completed their internship or likely to complete their internship on or before 31st March 2019.


NEET PG 2020 Application Form


  • Online submission of application form for NEET-PG 2020 for admission to MD/MS/ PG Diploma courses commences from First week of November, 2020.
  • After the online submission of application form, the candidate will get a computer generated acknowledgement. This acknowledgment shall also be sent at the registered e-mail ID of the candidate.
  • Candidates must preserve hard copy of application form for future reference.
  • Candidates have the option of changing the information entered in the application form till the last date of online submission of application form but some information is non editable.

Steps for online submission of NEET PG 2020 application form:

The following steps shall be followed while filing the online application form for NEET PG 2020:

  • Open NBE official website [www.nbe.edu.in] and click on the Registration link for NEET PG 2020.
  • Fill the registration form for obtaining User ID and Password
  • User ID and Password will be sent through SMS and at the registered Email ID
  • Fill the application form by filling in all Personal and Qualification Details (MBBS / Primary Medical Qualification details, Internship Details, SMC/MCI Registration Details)
  • Upload a recent passport size photograph (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format) and signature (Maximum 80 Kb size, in JPG/JPEG format).
  • Choose your Test City; the availability of the location will be on first come first serve basis.
  • Pay the Exam Fee via credit/debit cards issued by banks in India or through net banking [3750/- (For General/OBC candidates) & Rs. 2750/- (For SC/ST/PWD candidates)]
  • Take a print out of the filled Application form with Transaction ID printed on it.

NEET PG 2020 Exam date released by NBE


According to the notification released by National Board of Examinations (NBE) on 16th September, 2019 NEET PG 2020 Exam will be held on 5th January 2020.

NEET PG Examination is held for admission to Master of Surgery (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (DM) courses offered in government, private, deemed and central universities. NEET is mandatory even for foreign nationals seeking admission in medical courses in India.

Even though the date of exam has been announced the detailed examination schedule with dates and details for other exam events is still to be released. Candidates can check the official notification and other NEET PG 2020 Exam related details by visiting the official website i.e. nbe.edu.in

NBE has also announced the dates of other exams along with NEET PG 2020 exam. The date scheduled for NEET MDS, PDCET and FMGE examination is 20 December, 2019.
