ABOUT COLLEGE

Universal Medical College is a renowned medical college of Bangladesh located in Mohakhali, a busy commercial area in the central parts of Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh.

Established in 1996 as Ayesha Memorial Specialised Hospital, Medical education at Universal Medical College eventually began in 2013. Since inception, the college has experienced remarkable development under the management and has become an excellent place of learning and motivation, acting as a centre for medical education, service and research of National and International levels. The Academic building is accommodated in an 8 storied building in the city centre and the attached Hospital is a tertiary 350 bedded hospital accommodated in 6 storied building equipped with world class treatment facilities as well as cost effective treatment solution.

Universal Medical College imparts superior quality of medical education in accordance with the regulatory norms set up by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BMDC). The syllabus and study pattern is very similar to Indian Medical curriculum and the College is affiliated with the Dhaka University (DU) which is recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) India.

MBBS programme at Universal Medical College covers all pre-clinical, para-clinical and clinical disciplines through theory classes and clinical training as mandated in the latest NMC India guidelines. It offers a five-year duration course in English language followed by one-year internship after graduation compulsory for all students.

Special emphasis is placed on developing unique skills essential for all doctors, such as communication, medical ethics, and professionalism

There are regular introduction to rural and urban field practices where the students learn to make decisions independently. The Community Outreach Programmes organised at the cusp of the first and second year exposes the students to learning beyond the classroom and introduces them to the various health issues faced by population in the community.
