Qingdao University is situated in the eastern coastal city of Qingdao, China, between the coast of the Yellow Sea and Mount Fushan. It is surrounded by a beautiful setting where the rich local culture is blended with the spirit of the times.
Founded in 1903, Qingdao University is a public higher education institution. In 1993, Qingdao University, Qingdao Medical College and Shandong Textile & Engineering College were merged and with many years of continuous development the university has shaped to be a respectable comprehensive university with complete disciplines and excellent faculties.
Qingdao University started to accept the Clinical Medicine (MBBS) program for international students from 2006. It is one of 30 universities qualified by the State Education Commission to accept international students into English medium Clinical Medicine (MBBS) program. Now there are about 120 international students studying Clinical Medicine (MBBS) Program at Qingdao University, most of them coming from India.
With 34 colleges, Qingdao University incorporates 100 undergraduate programs covering disciplines such as liberal arts, art, history, philosophy, sciences, engineering, medicine, economics, management, law and education. The graduate school is composed of 35 doctoral programs and 175 master’s programs. There is 2,433 full-time teaching staff among which 382 are professors, 771 are associate professors, 880 of them are PhD’s, and 1,143 have master’s degree.
Currently, the enrollment at the university totals over 46,000 students, of whom over 9,600 are postgraduates, 34,000 graduate students and over 1,600 are overseas students. Students come from more than 60 countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Spain, Italy, India, Norway, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Singapore, Russia, Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, and many more.
Qingdao University Medical College is recognized by the World Health Organization and is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. It is also recognized by the Medical Council of India and is authorized by the Education Ministry of China to enrol international students to study clinical medicine in English.
The duration of MBBS in China at Qingdao University is 6 years. After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council of the respective country in order to get registered and practice medicine.

Established in 1898, Qingdao University Affiliated Hospital is a provincial comprehensive tertiary first-class hospital and a provincially designated health care hospital that integrates medical teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care and rehabilitation functions.
At present, there are 5,046 open beds in the hospital. The total number of emergency and outpatient visits was 52.73 million, 210,000 discharges and 104,000 surgeries per year.
It has 2 national key clinical disciplines (specialities) and 31 provincial key clinical specialities.
The hospital has 960 senior professional technicians and 780 doctors and it has built a first-class science and education building in China.
