After thoughtful consideration and with the closing deadline for the NEET PG 2023 application form fast approaching the NMC has notified that a two-month relaxation will be given for the internship completion deadline of NEET PG 2023.

The National Board of Examination (NBE) released the notification on 7th Jan 2023, inviting applications from eligible candidates for the NEET PG examination for admission to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses. The Application forms for NEET-PG 2023 can only be submitted online on the official websites – https://natboard.edu.in or https://nbe.edu.in from 7th January 2023 (3 PM Onwards) to 27th January 2023 (Till 11:55 PM).

But as per the information Bulletin of NEET PG 2023, only those medical students who will complete their internship by 31st March 2023 will be eligible for NEET-PG 2023 examination. This created a lot of unrest among the MBBS students who were completing their internship beyond April or June.

As a matter of fact, a large majority of students from the states of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and many other states were getting terribly affected and were going to experience a loss of a whole year. It was estimated that 80-85% of students from the 2017 batch were to become ineligible for the examination. Various students demand that the council extend the internship deadline by at least 45-60 days for most of the students to get under the eligibility criteria.

In regard to this, Dr Rohan Krishnan, the National Chairman of the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) spoke on the matter, “It is imperative that the government work toward a two-way solution. First, to change the eligibility directive for this year. Second, to ensure that colleges declare the final year results on time such that graduates can start their internships on time.”

The Student associations and state medical councils decided to come forward regarding the internship deadline issue to get the matter sorted swiftly. Also, a senior official from NMC, the education regulatory body of India assured that an early decision was to be made beneficial for the future of the MBBS students.

NEET-PG 2023 examination is scheduled to take place on March 5, but several students have also been calling for a delay in the examination arguing that the current set of academic cycles has left them with less time to study for exams. But as of now, only the NEET PG internship deadline has been revised and there is no change in the date of NEET PG 2023 examination. Candidates are advised to keep checking the official website for the latest updates.
