Tbilisi State Medical University is the leading medical university in Tbilisi, Georgia and largest medical university in Georgia and Eastern Europe. The university was founded in 1918 as Tbilisi Medical Institute and became the faculty of medicine within the Tbilisi State University in 1930. In 1992 Tbilisi State Medical Institute was renamed as Tbilisi State Medical University.
Tbilisi State Medical University is recognized by the World Health Organization, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, European Commission for Education, and World Federation of Medical Education and Medical council of India (MCI). Graduates of Tbilisi State Medical University can work in any country after passing the licensing exam/screening test (USMLE, PLAB, YOK, etc.).
Tbilisi State Medical University Faculty of Medicine offers medical education in English for international students since 1996. Currently, more than 2300 students from 68 countries worldwide (India, Sri Lanka, Turkey, EU countries, the US, Canada, Israel, Germany, Nigeria, Iraq, Australia, Central America, etc.) are studying at the university.
