About Saint Louis University Philippines


Saint Louis University is a private Catholic university that is also the largest university north of Manila. The University has developed into a four-campus University with more than thirty buildings and more than thirty thousand students. It is located centrally on a six-hectare campus in the heart of Baguio City.

In 1911, Saint Louis University was founded as a one-room elementary school in Baguio for ten local boys. In 1915, it grew into intermediate grades and a trade school. Consequently by 1921, the high school was inaugurated and in 1952, college-level courses in the Liberal Arts and Commerce were offered. As the SLU expanded other courses and further developments soon followed. In 1955, Saint Louis College was granted recognition for the graduate-level programs and on 13 May 1963 Saint Louis College was conferred the status of University by the Philippine Government. At present, the school runs Elementary, high school, undergraduate, graduate, law and medicine programs at its four well-structured campuses.

Saint Louis University has been providing quality education for more than 100 years. The university reputation for excellence attracts students and scholars from the Philippines and also from other countries like China, India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Mauritius, etc. It has sustained itself since 1911 to become one of the top centres of academic excellence in the Philippines that meet international standards in tertiary education.

Medical school of Saint Louis University


The Medical school of Saint Louis University was started to address the healthcare needs of a remote region of Cordilleras in 1971. Finally, in 1976, the School of Medicine admitted its 64 initial students with seven faculty members.
