NEET-UG 2020:Registration, Application & Eligibility Criteria details



How to apply for NEET-UG 2020


Step 1: Apply for Online Registration using unique Email Id and Mobile No as stated below.

Step 2: Fill in the Online Application Form with correct details as stated below and note down the system generated Application No.

Step 3: Upload scanned images of:

  1. Candidate’s latest Passport size Photograph (in JPG/JPEG format; size: 10 kb to200 kb),
  2. Post Card size photograph (4”X6”) (Size: 50 kb – 300 kb),
  3. Candidate’s Signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb),
  4. Left-hand thumb impression (file size: 10 kb-50 kb) in JPG/JPEG format. (In case of any eventuality of left thumb being unavailable, right-hand thumb impression may be used).
  5. Class X Passing Certificate (file size: 100 kb to 400 kb) in JPG/JPEG format.

NOTE: For all photographs, the focus needs to be on face (80% face coverage, ears clearly visible, on white background).

Step-4: Pay the fee using SBI/Syndicate/HDFC/ICICI/Paytm through Payment Gateway through Debit Card/Credit Card/Net-banking/UPI and keep proof of fee paid safely for future reference.

NOTE:

  • In case the Confirmation Page is not generated after payment of fee then the transaction is cancelled, and the amount will be refunded to the candidate’s account.
  • However, the candidate has to make another transaction of fee, in case the Confirmation Page is not generated.
  • Download, save and print copies of Confirmation Page after successful remittance of fee and keep copies safely for future reference.
  • All the 4 Steps can be done together in one go or at different times.
  • In case a candidate is found to fill in more than one application, the admit card will be cancelled/withheld and his/her candidature will be forfeited for this/future examination.

Steps for NEET-UG 2020 Online registration


  1. Log on to the official website: ntaneet.nic.in.
  2. Enter Candidate’s Name/ Mother’s Name/ Father’s Name as given in the Secondary School
    Examination or equivalent Board/ University Certificate in capital letters.
  3. Enter Date of Birth in dd/mm/yyyy format as recorded in Secondary School Examination or
    equivalent Board/ University certificate.
  4. Now Candidate needs to provide any one of the following identity details:
    1. Aadhaar Number (last 4 digits),
    2. Class XII Roll number issued by the Board,
    3. Election Card (EPIC No.),
    4. Ration Card,
    5. Bank Account Passbook with Photograph,
    6. Passport Number or
    7. The number of any other Photo Identity Card issued by Government.
  5. Now Candidate must enter own or parents Mobile Number and e-mail address
  6. Fill complete postal address with PIN Code (Correspondence and permanent address) for further correspondence.
  7. Now enter Gender, Nationality, State of Eligibility, Category, Person with Disabilities, Identification Type, Identification Number and Security Pin (as displayed on the screen).

  8. To complete the NEET registration, candidates must now verify the above details entered and submit.
  9. Now the candidate has to choose a password, retype the same, enter a security question and chose the answer. Keep the security question and answer safe as this may be required to retrieve the password in case a candidate forgets it.
  10. An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number and the candidates must click on the OTP verification to verify the same.
  11. After successful registration, the Provisional Application Number will be displayed which is the login ID for all future logins

Steps for filling NEET-UG 2020 Application Form


Step 1: Personal Details

  1. Some details from Registration will be auto displayed like- Candidate’s Name, Mother’s and Father’s Name, Gender, Category, Date of Birth, Nationality, State of eligibility, Persons with disability, etc
  2. Candidates can change the above application particulars entered before final submission of the Application Form except for few details like-Mobile No., Email address, Nationality, Gender etc are non-editable.
  3. After that candidate needs to Fill in the Minority details, If suffering from type 1 diabetes and if you are a girl candidate are you the only child of your parents[As applicable].

Step 2: Place of Birth

  1. Enter Place of Birth, State and District details

 Step 3: Choice of Medium of Question Paper

  1. The medium of paper once filled cannot be edited.
  2. Candidates can choose from English, Hindi, Gujarati, Marathi, Oriya, Bengali, Assamese, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Urdu languages.
  3. With the exception of English, Hindi and Urdu, other languages option is available only if the NEET UG 2020 exam centre is chosen in the state of origin of that language.

Step 4: Choice of Examination City

  1. The list of 155 exam cities will be given as a drop-down list.
  2. Candidates must choose at least four exam centres in the order of their centre preference.

Step 5: Academic Details (Class 10th or equivalent)

  1. Name of School Education Board

  2. Name of School /College

  3. Address of School/College

  4. Year of passing

  5. Place of study(India/Abroad)
  6. State where Class Xth School/College is located

  7. District where Class Xth School/College is located

  8. Percentage of marks obtained in Class Xth

Step 6: Academic Details (Class 11th or equivalent)

  1. Name of School/College
  2. Year of passing
  3. Place of study(India/Abroad)
  4. State where Class XIth School/College is located

  5. District where Class XIth School/College is located

Step 7: Academic Details (Class 12th or equivalent)

  1. School Board of Class XIIth or equivalent

  2. Name of School/College (passed/appearing)

  3. Address of School/College

  4. Place of study(India/Abroad)
  5. State where Class XIIth School/College is located

  6. District where Class XIIth School/College is located

  7. Mode of preparation
  8. Qualifying Examination Code
  9. Year of passing/appearing Class XIIth or Qualifying Exam
  10. Percentage of Marks Obtained in Class XIIth or Qualifying Exam
  11. Roll Number of Class XIIth

Step 8: Details of marks of qualifying exam (Class 12 or equivalent)

  1. Candidates will be required to fill the Maximum Marks and marks obtained in English, chemistry, Physics, Biology/ Biotechnology.
  2. Candidates who have studied botany & zoology separately should calculate the total of the two.

Step 9:Permanent Address

  1. Candidates must provide correct residential address details along with the Pincode.
  2. Mobile number and Email ID are automatically displayed from registration details.

Step 9:Correspondence Address

  1. Candidates can enter the details or opt their correspondence address as the same as the permanent address.

Step 10: Details of Parents/ Guardian –

  1. Candidates must fill the details of their Father and Mother like qualification, occupation and annual income.

Step 11: Dress Code

  1. Candidates intend to wear a customary dress contrary to the Dress code while appearing for the exam? Candidates who have traditional dress compulsions must opt for this else indicate “no”.

Step 12: Security Pin & OTP Verification

  1. Candidates must enter the given security pin and complete OTP verification.

Steps for uploading NEET-UG 2020 scanned documents and images


  1. After filling out the details in the application form of NEET-UG 2020, the next step is to upload scanned copies of the photograph and signature as specified:
    • Candidate’s latest Passport size Photograph (in JPG/JPEG format; size: 10 kb to200 kb),
    • Candidate’s Signature (file size: 4kb – 30kb),

Steps for payment of NEET-UG 2020 application fees


  1. After completing the application form, the candidates can remit the examination fees in two modes: Online and cash deposit through e-Challan at SBI branches only.
  2. Online Mode: Debit/Credit Card, Net Banking and Unified Payment Interface (UPI) using State Bank of India/Syndicate Bank/ICICI Bank/HDFC Bank/Paytm service provider.
    1. Candidates must check that the Credit/Debit card used for payment is within the validity period.
    2. For net banking, it is advisable to check the balance of the account and keep all the credentials ready before logging on to submit the application form.
  3. Cash deposit through e-Challan at SBI branches only.
    1. Print E-Challan in PDF on A4 size page from SBI MOPS page which will contain NTA’s required information in addition to Bank Reference No. And visit any of the SBI Branches in India and deposit amount mentioned in e-challan.
  4. Note: In case the fee payment status is not “OK” the candidates are advised as following:
    1. If the fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in State Bank of India, the candidate should contact immediately the concerned branch to ensure update his/her fee status on the website.
    2. If the fee is paid through credit/debit card and the status is not “OK”, it means the transaction is cancelled. Such candidates have to pay the fee once again and ensure the ‘OK’ fee status.
    3. For cancelled transactions, the amount will automatically be refunded by the concerned Bank to concerned credit/debit card within 15 days of the last date of submission of Application Form.

Print out of the NEET Acknowledgement receipt


  1. Once the application fee is paid, a confirmation page or acknowledgement receipt will be generated.
  2. A copy of the NEET acknowledgement or confirmation page will also be sent to the registered email as well the mobile number of the candidates.
  3. Candidates are advised to save this acknowledgement receipt for future reference. They are also advised to take a printout of the same for reference.

Documents to retain till NEET-UG 2020 admission


  1. Print out of Computer Generated Confirmation Page of NTA NEET Online Application.
  2. Proof of fee paid.
  3. 6 to 8 copies of identical photograph uploaded in Online application.
  4. Copy of the System generated Self Declaration in respect of candidates from UTs of J & K and Ladakh who have opted for seats under 15% All India Quota

Steps to retrieve password for NEET-UG 2020 application form


  1. There are two methods to retrieve NEET-UG 2020 password
  2. Click on, “Forgot password” link in the candidate’s login.
  3. Through OTP: Candidates will have to enter the following details:
    NEET 2020 Application No
    Candidate’s Name
    Date of Birth
    Enter security pin which is case sensitive
  4. Through Security Question: Candidates must enter the following details
    NEET Application No
    Candidate’s Name
    Date of Birth
    Security Question
    Answer
    Enter security pin which is case sensitive


Eligibility Criteria for NEET-UG 2020


  1. He/she has completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before 31 December of the year of his/her admission to the first year Undergraduate Medical Courses.
  2. The upper age limit for NEET (UG) is 25 years as on the date of examination with relaxation of 5 years for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwD Candidates.
  3. Indian Citizens/ Overseas Citizens of India intending to pursue Undergraduate Medical Courses from a foreign Medical/ Dental Institute also need to qualify NEET (UG).

Minimum Qualifying Marks for NEET-UG 2020


  1. The candidate must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English individually.
  2. The minimum marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in qualifying examination shall be:
    • 50% marks for Unreserved and General-EWS Candidates
    • 40% marks for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other Backward (NCL) classes
    • 45 % marks for PwD candidates
  3. For students who have received education abroad and wish to seek admission into medical colleges in India must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English with 50% marks in class 12 and their equivalency determined by Association of Indian Universities (AIU) as per regulations of the Medical Council of India and the concerned University.
