ADMISSION PROCESS AT VOLGOGRAD STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY RUSSIA

Domestic flights resume operations; Centre and State issue guidelines(SOPs) for Travellers safety

With domestic flights resuming operations from 25th May for major cities across the country the government is taking every possible initiative to revamp the normal life. India had suspended all flights on 25 March when the government first imposed a nationwide lockdown due to COVID-19. Several discussions were held between officials of states, civil aviation ministry and airline representatives to discuss the resumption of operations. The discussions covered the quarantine rules for flyers, standard operating procedures for airports, and the safety procedures to be followed by the passengers and airline crew to safely resume the operations.

All airports and airlines were informed by the government to prepare for resuming proper operations but the Indian airlines reopened advance bookings for passenger flights from 1st June onward even before the government plans to resume flight services were announced from 25 May. The Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) for passenger movement has been issued by the ministry of civil aviation and the Union Health Ministry has also separately released guidelines for travellers on domestic and international flights for safety. The airlines have been strictly advised not to board anyone showing symptoms of Covid-19. Travelling passengers will have to submit an undertaking before boarding flight that they would undergo a compulsory quarantine for 14 days: which includes seven days paid institutional quarantine at their own expense after that seven days isolation at home with self-monitoring of health — according to the Health Ministry guidelines

The states have agreed to accept few flights to resume initial services but have also announced their own set of quarantine and self-isolation rules for the arriving passengers as per the assessment in line with the consultation from the Central government guidelines. Airline Carriers have resumed operations from all major Indian airports and tier-one cities airports but they have been advised to operate at only one-third of their capacity.

SOP for Domestic Flights

  • Passengers should reach the airport two hours in advance of flight time
  • Passengers will be allowed to enter the terminal building if their flights are within four hours
  • Passengers should wear masks and gloves
  • Passengers who don’t show ‘green’ on Aarogya Setu will not be allowed to enter the airport
  • Aarogya Setu app is not compulsorily required for children below the age of 14 years
  • Sanitisation of baggage before entry into the terminal
  • At passenger touchpoints, staff have to either wear face shields or put glass wall at the counter
  • Constant announcements about social distancing and other regulations should be done
  • Boarding will be done in batches to maintain appropriate social distance
  • The seating arrangement of passengers must maintain social distancing by blocking those seats that are not to be used, with proper markers/tapes
  • All airport staff have to wear PPEs
  • Hand sanitisers for Staff and Passengers to be provided
  • Newspapers and magazines not to be provided in the Terminal building/Lounges

IDENTIFY FAKE & HOAX NEWS AND STOP ITS CIRCULATION

As the way we consume information around us has transformed overtime in the form of online news stories, social media, messaging apps, etc the circulation of fake and morphed news has gained momentum along with them. The vast amount of information available online these days and with the growth in fake news industry the need for critical thinking is the need of the hour.

Thousands of people circulate highlights and false stories unknowingly because these eye popping headlines grab attention of the innocent users easily and seem accurate. The media today is largely consumed by the masses through social media sites and networks and it can get tricky for the general public with little or no knowledge of internet working to differentiate between real or hoax stories.

Credible journalism is lead by fact-gathering and authentic story coverage. Traditionally, we got our news from trusted sources, journalists and media outlets that are required to follow strict codes of practice. However, the internet has enabled a whole new way to publish, share and consume information and news with very little regulation or editorial standards.

As concerns over the deadly coronavirus has grown, the circulation of fake news and scams capitalising on people’s fears has also spiked. Despite earnest efforts curtailing these issues are far from being eradicated. In one of the instances an e-mail with the logo of the World Health Organisation had been making the rounds, inviting Internet users to visit a dubious website for information on safety measures. A pop-up screen then asks for the user’s e-mail address and password which can further access your personal details or financial details.

Amidst these challenging and tough time we as a society need to congregate and cut down the circulation of hoax and fake news as our duty. Few things which we can do to identify these malicious practices are:

  • Do not circulate screenshots or unverified news. When in doubt take time to evaluate the information before sharing or buying into it.
  • On receiving a seemingly dubious post your first response should be to go to the actual website of reputable news outlets to verify the authenticity of the news in question.
  • Users are advised to look closely at the links of posts. Many false news sites mimic the authentic news sources by making unidentifiable and small changes to their links.
  • False stories also often have catchy headlines in all caps and exclamation points. Do not fall for them and first read the NEWS and what it is implying before further sharing.
  • Whenever you see an eye grabbing headline you should check if the same news has also been published by other reputable news outlets. If the story is reported by multiple reputable sources, it is more likely to be true.
  • Always consume information from reliable and authentic sources.
