Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University named after the First President of Russian Federation Boris Nikolayevich Yeltsin as a sign of appreciation and respect for magnanimous support and encouragement in establishing the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
The University is a higher education institution jointly operated by the Kyrgyz government and the Government of Russia. It is located in the city of Bishkek, the multicultural capital of Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University was founded in 1993 in accordance with the Warsaw Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation, signed on 10th June 1992 in Moscow.
The University consortium includes 16 leading universities from eight countries: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan and Ukraine. International students are admitted to the University in accordance with the Rules of Admission of Foreign Nationals to the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
Kyrgyz Russian Slavic University has 8 faculties, 80 academic departments, 6 research centres, 15 scientific and educational centres, 4 laboratories, a law centre, a medical centre, and 25 institutes of students’ aesthetic education.
The university is highly proud with its 1973 distinguished and dedicated academic and research staff (106 of them are doctoral candidates and 353 with PhD degree) and a total number of more than 11000 students, including more than 780 foreign students from various foreign countries, and about 450 postgraduate and doctoral candidates.
The professors of the department are curators and leading surgeons of specialized departments, conduct rounds, perform the most complex operations and diagnostic studies. Employees of the department regularly conduct consultations with patients in various medical institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Teaching at Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University is imparted in modern well-equipped classrooms using interactive methods of education and the latest technologies. All courses are equipped with academic and methodological literature. Students can benefit from their use of reading halls, computer classes, and the centre of culture and entertainment.

The clinical base of the department is the Republican, multidisciplinary clinic of general surgery, IK Akhunbayev of the National Hospital under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
